*usually, exams that grant college credit can be taken without enrolling in a class. Although, this will require the test taker to "self-study" (teaching themselves the material) to be prepared for the exam. This is a great option for students whose schools do not offer many higher level classes.
*As of May 2026, you do not have to be enrolled in high school to take a CLEP exam
